This is the third installment of my 2023 Keyngdrum Overdrive series following albums with Danny Frankel and Brian McOmber. This recording resulted from a couple of days hanging and playing in Doc's mountain home outside Lake Tahoe. Doc and I have known each other for years, thanks to Rent Romus and Edgetone Records, and have always talked about doing some recording together someday. I'm thrilled that we finally have and can share it with others who I think will be thrilled by it as well! Doc is an incredibly flexible musician with a long history in music, working and playing with many people from many different backgrounds. This album is a joy for me to listen to and I hope so for you as well!. - Thollem

I've always been fascinated by electronic drums and the idea of such wide sonic palettes. For my part of the project, I used my Gretsch "Max Roach Progressive Jazz" kit, outfitted with Remo mesh heads and 4 Sensory Percussion triggers by Sunhouse. The triggers work with their Sample Packs software, and the possibilities are virtually endless. I was excited to use these new percussive innovations to create fresh, other-worldly rhythms and textures. Playing with Thollem was another great opportunity to explore and create with this technology. - E. Doctor Smith
